Be it frown lines,lip wrinkles,crows feet or skin ailments like acne and vitiligo,a cutaneous surgeon can use his/her artistic skills in dealing with the problems with newer surgical techniques. “In the quest for a perfect face,techniques like facial sculpting with botox and fillers,lasers and minimally invasive chemical peels are being popularly used today,” says Col R S Grewal,head of the department of Dermatology,Command Hospital,Southern Command.
A national dermatology workshop on “Changing horizons in dermatology medical to surgical” was conducted by the Department of Dermatology,Command Hospital at the Armed Forces Medical College here. From topical therapy orientation to an exquisite hands-on intervention,key developments in cutaneous surgery,aesthetic dermatology,radio,cryo and chemosurgery including laser medicine were discussed at the workshop.
Techniques like chemical peeling has stood the test of time in spite of newer options for facial rejuvenation.
