City-based danseuse Divya Mirchandani is all set to perform her Arangetram on June 20
Its just like a mini wedding says Sonia Mirchandani about her daughter Divya,as she gets ready to stage her Arangetram this Sunday. Mirchandani, who is set to perform her maiden solo Bharatnatyam performance on June 20,is pretty serious about the same.
Mirchandani who has been juggling her tuitions and dance classes since her school years has now been learning the dance form for nearly 10 years. She,however, started rehearsing for her Arangetram a year back. In the months of April and May,the rehearsals got more frequent and longer. She dedicated three hours everyday to get her practice in order, adds Sonia.
Divya who is an SYJC science student of Nowrosjee Wadia College began learning the dance form when her parents noticed her natural inclination towards dance and enrolled her under her Guru Charmaine Lazarus at the age of seven. She has also performed classical and folk dances at various events in the country and in the US in addition to learning Bharatnatyam. Gulshan Gidwani, the principal of St. Mira’s College for girls, will be the chief guest for this occasion. Mirchandani will perform a total of eight dances with each one having their own separate meanings during the performance.
(Divya Mirchandani will be performing at the Tilak Smarak Mandir on June 20,at 5:00pm onwards)
