An art workshop,a Marathi play and a couple of film festivals,the citys art scene has interesting events lined up in the days to come
EXHIBITION
* The Kalinga Handicrafts ICS Ltd has organised an exhibition-cum-sale of exquisite handicraft and handloom items at the Orissa Craft Bazaar in Chaturshrungi Temple premises,S B Road from May 1 to 17 between 10 am and 9 pm.
WORKSHOP
* Learn new techniques of photography at a seven-day photography workshop named Story of the Moment at Aperture India Art Gallery,F C Road from May 11 to 17 between 7 and 9 am and 4 and 6 pm.
* The Art2day Gallery has organised a workshop titled Water-colour with Milind Mulick from May 10 onwards at its Tilak Road branch. An opportunity to learn water colour basics,for busy professionals,art lovers and students.
* Learn how relationships can be a source of great joy at the Bridging Hearts Gathering,which is an opportunity to learn and experience the essential love-skills that bring hearts closer. The Bridging Hearts Gathering will be held on May 9 from 8 am to 5 pm at the Aperture India Art Gallery,F C Road.
FILMS
* The Max Mueller Bhavan,Pune is organising the ICE (International Cultural Exchange) Digital Short Film Festival 2009 from May 7 to 9 at S M Joshi Foundation Auditorium,near Patrakaar Bhavan. The German contribution to the festival will be the Short & Sweet III Series. It is a compilation of new short films,out of which 10 12 films will be screened. The German films would be screened between 7.45 and 8.30 pm every day.
* High Spirits will be organising a special short film festival titled Shamiana today from 8.45 pm onwards. Among the films to be screened are OK Tata Bye Bye directed by Amit Dang,Udaan directed by Pruthujay Raghani,Magic Bus by Mahesh Mathai and Pirates of the Gutter by Christina Schindler.
THEATRE
* A theatre group named Natak Company is staging a new Marathi play called Sutti Butti directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari based on the Russian story Disobedience Holiday by Sergei Mikhalkov. The play will be staged at Sudarshan Rangmanch on May 14 from 6 pm onwards.
ART
* Catch a glimpse of the wonders of deft brushstrokes at an exhibition of paintings by veteran artist D S Khatavkar from May 3 to 13 at the Indiaart Gallery,off Senapati Bapat Road.
