Dhananjay Taur new PBA president
Advocate Dhananjay Keshavrao Taur is the new president of the Pune Bar Association. Taur won the annual Pune Bar Association elections on Thursday by a margin of 335 votes. Advocate Vikas Dhagepatil and advocate Sanjivani Dattatraya Kenjale were elected as vice-presidents,advocate Amol Kajalepatil and advocate Sunil Jagtap were elected as secretaries and advocate Prasad Bahirat was elected as the treasurer for 2011 – 2012.
IAC group manufacturing facility at Chakan
INTERNATIONAL automotive components (IAC) group opened its 110,000-sq ft state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Chakan. The facility located in Mahindra supplier park makes IAC one of the first automotive suppliers to establish operations in the supplier park. The facility has come up with an investment of $15 million and will employ more than 200 people. The facility marks IACs second manufacturing operation in Chakan since it opened the first plant in 2009.
Security tightened in city for World Cup
As India-Sri Lanka meet for the final of the World Cup 2011 in Mumbai,Pune police are prepared with the security arrangements in city for Saturday. Rajendra Dahale,deputy commissioner of police (Cyber crime and economic offenses) in-charge of the special branch,said,We will continue with the security arrangements that were done for the India-Pakistan semi-final match with some added efforts to avoid traffic jams. Taking a lesson from the traffic jams after the match on Wednesday at Fergusson College Road,Jangali Maharaj Road,M G Road and some other places,police have decided deploy more force on these spots.
1 dead,2 injured at Mumbai-Pune highway
One person died and two others were critically injured after the tempo they were travelling in rammed into a truck at Khandala ghat near Khopoli on Mumbai-Pune Express highway on Friday. The incident hampered vehicular traffic on the e-way for over an hour. Police identified the deceased as Pandurang Jyoti Shinde,52,of Shamgaon,Karad in Satara district and the injured as Vishaws Seetaram Shedge,40,of Karad and tempo driver Rajendra Kale ,29,a resident of Rahata in Ahmednagar district.
