Arora thunders into quarterfinals

India’s Number 4 in snooker Shivam Arora dished out a huge break of 92 in the first frame to score an emphatic 3-0 win against Yogesh Lohiya and stormed into the quarterfinals of the Kumar Khandelwal Memorial Open Snooker Tournament being played at Deccan Gymkhana.

Arora,playing for Palazo,beat Lohiya 127-1,59-9,52-7. Another Palazo player Anand Raghuwanshi defeated Aditya Deshpande of PYC Hindu Gymkhana 73 (46)-22,32-47,57-42,84-38.

On other tables,Abhijeet Ranade of Nashik beat Satish Karad of Deccan Gymkhana 63-27,3-68,47-37,10-76,82-48 and Deelip Kumar of Chennai rallied to beat Sachin Sancheti of PYC Hindu Gymkhana 38-56,52 (45)-6,51-13,23-75,51-1.

The semifinals will be played on Thursday morning with the final slated for 4 pm.

Former national snooker champion Subhash Agarwal will give away the prizes.
