Metal Alert

A thousand prayers have finally been answered. Indian metal fans,who have long waited for one of the world’s top metal bands to perform in India,will soon have their wish fulfilled. It seems that American heavy metal band Metallica (in the picture) is headed to the subcontinent in October. The news comes from an interview that the band’s bassist Robert Trujillo gave to Inland Empire Weekly,an American alternative newsweekly. In the article,Trujillo is quoted as saying,“We are going to play India in October. That should be interesting,playing a place we never thought in our wildest dreams we’d (go) to play. It’s an honour for all of us that we get to be a part of that whole music scene as a metal band sharing our music with fans in India at this incredible concert!”

Metallica,found in 1981,currently comprises lead vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield,percussionist Lars Ulrich,lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and Trujillo. It is credited as being one of the founders of thrash metal and is acclaimed for albums such as Master of Puppets and The Black Album. Metallica has,over the years,won multiple Grammy awards,Billboard Music awards and MTV Video Music awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
