Pune Grand Tour Stage 2: Road closures and traffic diversions in place Wednesday

Pune city traffic police on Tuesday notified road closures and traffic diversions that will be in place on Wednesday (January 21) for Stage 2 of the Pune Grand Tour 2026. The route of the race will begin from the Ladies Club in Pune Camp and will traverse key roads in Pune Cantonment jurisdiction before moving towards Bopdev Ghat and concluding at Nanded City.

A notification was issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav on Tuesday. Stage 2 of the Pune Grand Tour is 109 km, with an elevation profile of 1,466 metres. This stage is being held across Pune, Purandar, Rajgad and Haveli areas of Pune district known for their rugged terrain. Following the race stretches, corresponding road closures and traffic diversions, police have reduced the road closure window from 9 am – 5 pm to 12 pm – 4 pm. Police have also clarified that each of these roads will be closed in a phased manner and closure for each stretch will be kept at the bare minimum.

– Ladies Club. Starting point: Traffic from Blue Nile Hotel premises to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue Chowk will remain closed during the race. Vehicles will be diverted via Koyaji Road, Mahatma Gandhi (MG) Road.

– Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk: Traffic moving from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue Chowk to Golibar Maidan Chowk will be diverted through Bhairoba Nala–Lullanagar Chowk–Gangadham Chowk route.

– Golibar Maidan Chowk to Sheetal Petrol Pump Chowk: Traffic from Golibar Maidan Chowk to Lullanagar Chowk, Jyoti Hotel Chowk and Sheetal Petrol Pump will be closed. Vehicles may proceed via MammaDevi Chowk Bhairoba Nala Lullanagar Gangadham or alternatively through Sheetal Petrol Pump, Kausar Baug, Gangasatellite Society, Netaji Nagar and Lullanagar route.

– Sheetal Petrol Pump to Khadi Machine Chowk: Traffic from Sheetal Petrol Pump to Khadi Machine Chowk will be suspended. Vehicles will be diverted through Kanha Hotel Mit haNagar Aai Mata Mandir Gangadham Chowk Lullanagar route to avoid the race stretch.

– Khadi Machine Chowk to Trinity College to Bopdev Ghat stretch: Traffic from Khadi Machine Chowk to Yeolewadi and further to Bopdev Ghat will remain closed. Vehicles will be diverted via Shriram Chowk–Yewalewadi up to Dharmavat Petrol Pump, or through Hadapsar–Saswad–Bopdev Ghat route. Another available alternative is Katraj–Shivdewadi–Bopdev Ghat.

– Khadakwasla to Kirkitwadi: Traffic moving from Khadakwasla towards Sinhagad Road and Kirkitwadi will be closed. Vehicles will be diverted via the Panshet Road route.

– Kirkatwadi to Nanded City: Traffic from Kirkitwadi to Nanded City will be stopped. Vehicles should use NDA Link Road and NDA Shivane Road. An additional diversion is available via DSK Vishwa–Vadgaon Dhayari route.

– Nanded City Gate: Traffic from Warje Bridge towards Nanded City will remain closed. Commuters are advised to use alternate connecting internal roads to reach their destination.
