Ronald Kydon Lyngdoh’s goal was the difference between the two sides as Meghalaya beat Odisha 1-0 to win the Coca-Cola Cup,a National Under-15 Sub-Junior Football Tournament,hosted at the Father Agnel’s School ground in Vashi. Lyngdoh’s effort not only led his team to victory but also won him the man of the match award. En-route to the final,Meghalaya thrashed Karnataka 6-0 in their semi-final tie while Odisha struggled against Goa in their 5-4 encounter that needed a Golden Goal to decide the winner. Around 40 players from the tournament will be shortlisted by the AIFF to form the crux of the India Under-16 national team. “This has offered the young and budding football players of our nation with a platform to demonstrate as well as hone their skills in the sport,” said Rob Baan,AIFF Technical Director. “We are looking forward to picking up a pool of talented footballers.”
