While the sequel is yet to hit the theatres, the buzz around Bheja Fry 2 in the days running upto its release on June 17,is quite hot. First,it was the story spun around Vinay Pathaks wardrobe. Apparently, the shirt he wears in the film was picked up from the local markets in Mumbai, but while shooting, the shirt went missing on the cruise. Ultimately, the shirt had to be called from India on an urgent basis,in turn making the journey of a Rs 100 shirt, cost more than Rs 1 lakh. The latest news doing the rounds is how Minissha Lambas character is inspired by Ekta Kapoor. Lamba, who plays a hi-flying producer in the sequel, takes Bollywoods original idiot to an island on his quest to become a singer. Lamba said that while preparing for her role as a producer in the film, she had in mind televisions baroness,Kapoor.
The story of a successful woman producer inspired me and I closely studied Ekta prior to the shooting of the film, said Lamba, adding how Kapoor had revolutionised television viewing in India. I see my character as a dedication to the girl who had great talent, vision, dedication and the strength to work in a field that was only fraught with challenges. Her story of a woman trying to make it big in a male-dominated sphere was inspiring, said Lamba.
Another inspired person on board is Pathak himself, who makes his singing debut with the song called O rahi o rahi ,based on the 1960s Kishore Kumar song from the film Imtihaan and is filmed entirely in black-and-white. Being a huge classical music fan,Pathak took inspiration from yesteryear singers like Mohammad Rafi,Mukesh, and Kishore Kumar while preparing for the song. Directed by Sagar Ballery,Bheja Fry 2 also stars KK Menon,Minissha Lamba,Suresh Menon and Amol Gupte.
