Many fora seem to be happening across the city. There’s Bombay Photo Club and Nazar ka Adda for photography,Godrej Culture Labs’ Friday Funda,Ted X,Ink and a host of other annual conventions on everything from design to music. Chai Community is the latest one to hit the city, and will hold its debut session today,4 pm onwards at Bandra Base. Shreya Naik, who has conceptualised the community, says,“It’s not just about talks or music performances,it is to create a space where like-minded people can come and share ideas. Everyone seems to be doing this online, here you have people from different streams coming together, and most importantly seeing each other face-to-face.”

A monthly event,Chai Community promises to get a variety of art forms such as music, dance, films, visual art and photography under one roof. All this while munching on bites created by chefs from the city.

The first edition, with an entry fee of Rs 100,will feature a screening of two short films,Tyu’s Company and The Tigers,They’re All Dead by Reema Sengupta. The first is a dystopian short, where the online world is the only world known to humanity, because of living in constant fear of a looming bio-terrorism threat. The second is a satirical comedy about an apathetic city that has faced too many tragedies to care about their last tiger who is found dead in its enclosure.

Music for the night will be courtesy Titanium,a band comprising two talented 14 year-olds,a drum circle conducted by Anand Bhagat and an acoustic set by Ayush Shrestha and Vivaan Kapoor. The event will end with a talk by Neeti Mohan of Aasma fame, who will share the ups and downs of her singing career. Food for the afternoon has been organised by Amrita Rana, who runs Life Ki Recipe,a home based pantry that sells artisanal jams, spreads and sandwiches. And there is free chai of course.
