CCI Snooker Kings overcame Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Tigers in a 3-2 thriller to emerge champions in The World Zoroastrian Organization Trust Mumbai Snooker League 2012,organized by the Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra,at the Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana.
Twice in arrears,Tigers kept their hopes alive through the seasoned Devendra Joshi who won both his singles ties convincingly, including one against state champion Hasan Badami,to force the decider. But it was former state champion Nikhil Ootam who stood between the Tigers and victory, after he won both his singles ties including the decider against the same opponent,Anup Kedia. After ignoring glaring blemishes in the third tie against Ootam,Kedia, playing with a handicap of +45 to his advantage,as against Ootams +10,made amends and delighted with two red cannons and a pink cannon that briefly harboured hopes of an upset win. He went on to hold a 68-67 lead in the decider with only the colours remaining, even as Ootam fired a significant break of 31 early in the tie that ended prematurely when the black rattled the top right jaw.
