In the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) elections in Thane district, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured two unopposed victories, with both winning candidates being women.
According to officials, Rekha Chaudhary, a corporator for over a decade, was declared elected unopposed from Ward 18, while Aasavari Kedar Navre won uncontested from Ward 26 . Their victories came after no rival candidates remained in the fray following the close of nominations and scrutiny.
Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan described the unopposed wins as a “supreme civic honour” bestowed by voters.
Referring to Chaudhary’s victory, Chavan said it reflected sustained grassroots work in Kachore over the last ten years and the trust she had built among residents. “People have spoken through silence,” he said.
Navre is a first-time entrant into municipal politics, though her family has long-standing links with the RSS. Chavan informed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about the results through a video call.
Responding, Fadnavis said that while any victory mattered, an unopposed win sent a stronger message of public confidence. “This trust should translate into better governance for Kalyan-Dombivli,” he said.
Unopposed wins in Navi Mumbai and Dhule
In the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Nitin Patil was elected unopposed from Ward 18-B after the nomination of the lone rival candidate was rejected during scrutiny. In the Dhule Municipal Corporation, Ujjwal Bhosale secured an uncontested win, marking the party’s presence there as well.
