Mother who killed baby admitted,twin discharged
A week after a mother allegedly threw her baby daughter to her death out of a hospital window,the girl’s twin has been discharged but the mother is under treatment for post-partum depression at KEM Hospital’s psychiatry wing. KEM’s psychiatry head Dr Shubhangi Parkar said Deepika Parmar,admitted Thursday morning,has been put on antidepressants. Vikram Patil,senior inspector with Bhoiwada police,said they would proceed with investigations after Deepika’s condition improves.
Slab falls off building in Tardeo,crushes woman
A woman was killed when a slab from a building collapsed and fell on her near Ganga Jamuna Theatre in Tardeo Thursday evening. Tardeo police said the woman hasn’t been identified; the concrete slab,aligning the terrace of The Reward,five storeys tall,collapsed at 8:25 pm. The woman was aged between 35 and 40.
Absence of runway,weather hit flights
Flights were delayed by around 45 minutes because of poor weather on Thursday. On normal days,the holding time for arriving flights is zero during afternoon non-peak hours; on Thursday,flights had to hold over Mumbai throughout the day. One of the reasons is that the secondary runway accommodates fewer flights than the main runway. Since Monday,the secondary runway has been the only one in operation.
