A student exchange programme, where a five-member delegation from Moscow State Agro-engineering University (MSAU) was on a visit to Punjab Agricultural University (PAU),came to an end on Tuesday. The group comprised Dr Roman Filonov, head of department, and four students — Victoriya Gorlova,Anastasia Sorokina,Kristina Kalina and Elena Shekunova.

On the last leg of their tour, the team members met Dr Manjit Singh Kang,PAU Vice-Chancellor,and other deans, directors and officers of PAU,and shared their experience. Dr Kang also awarded them certificates. Dr Kang said that bi-lateral visits of students and scientists provide opportunities to know each other not only professionally but also culturally. The two universities, under the signed MoU,have already witnessed an exchange of students with PAU students having visited their foreign counterparts.

Dr Roman Filonov, the group leader, said the relationship between PAU and MSAU was “mutually beneficial” and wished to see it grow deeper laying focus on new programmes. He thanked the faculty and students of PAU for their support during the visit.

Sharing their observations, the members said they were impressed with the well-developed laboratories, fields and other facilities at PAU.

The students also described the cultural programme presented by the hosts as stunning. While most of them wished the programme would have been for a longer duration, some of them also flaunted a few Punjabi words that they had picked up during their stay at PAU.

Coordinators Dr Ashok Kumar and Dr Manjit Singh said the guests had attended various training sessions at PAU and had also visited Amritsar, the Atari border,Chandigarh and Agra, where they saw the Taj Mahal.
