Schools across the city were draped in yellowthe colour of springas they celebrated Basant Panchmi on Saturday.
Students and teachers of Gupta Model High School flew kites and made paintings to mark the festival. Students were told about the significance of Basant Panchmi while the school staff including manager Vineet Gupta offered prayers to Goddess Saraswati.
Ram Lal Bhasin Public School wore a festive look with yellow balloons and flowers setting the mood for the day. School director S Verma and headmistress Tarannum Fatima extended their greetings to students on the occasion. Students of the kindergarten section of Vardhman International Public School also celebrated Basant Panchmi with gaiety and fervour. They sang songs and recited poems related to the spring season. School manager Sanjeev Jain and Vice-president Sushil Malhotra also addressed the students on the occasion. Jesus Sacred heart School South City was not far behind and the function began on a pious note with a saraswati vandana.
It was followed by shabad gyan and a kite-flying competition. Principal Anju Banga wished the students on the occasion. Lastly,Guru Gobind Public School also held various competitions for the students.
