Anticipation a significant increase in the footfall of tourists visiting Ayodhya after the completion of the Ram Temple construction work by January next year, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday cleared projects worth Rs 465 crore for the development of world-class infrastructure in the temple city.

The projects include the expansion and beautification of a 2-km-road from NH-27 to Naya Ghat — referred to as “Dharma Path”, the development of amenities and resting places for tourists, four-laning of about 9 km of Pancha Kosi Parikrama Marg and four laning of 24 km of 14 Kosi Parikrama Marg.

“The construction of a grand Ram temple is in progress in Ayodhya and it will be dedicated to the public in the first month of the next year. As soon as the temple is dedicated to the public, the footfall of tourists will start increasing. Thus, the infrastructure should also be developed to cater to the large number of tourists visiting Ayodhya,” said Cabinet Minister Jaiveer Singh.

Singh said the expansion and beautification of roads would cost about Rs 465 crore.

Besides these, the Cabinet also cleared a proposal to develop nine-metre-wide utility service lanes on both sides of “Dharma Path” and landscaping on about 3-metre-wide strips on both sides of the same road, along with constructing resting places and other amenities along the road.

The Cabinet also decided to issue letters of intent to four new private universities — Varun Arjun University in Shahjahanpur, TS Mishra University in Lucknow, Farukh Hussain University in Agra and Vivek National University in Bijnor — in the state.
