The fresh plea says that the Act infringes upon the right to religion of Hindus, guaranteed and protected under Article 25 (freedom of conscience and free profession, practice and propagation of religion) of the Constitution.

The development comes two days after Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi reconstituted the bench that was to hear the case — after one of the judges on the bench set up earlier this month, Justice U Lalit, recused from hearing it — and fixed January 29 to take up the matter.
“This is the first time we are reaching out to the NRIs at Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas for a signature campaign,” said Sanjeev Sawhney, secretary-general of Hindu Heritage Foundation, which has set up the stall.
"In the Ayodhya issue, the Congress is trying to impede the judicial process through its lawyers. The Congress does not want resolution of the Ayodhya issue," Modi said. "We should not forget its attitude and (also) not let others forget it," he told party workers.
