The Sonbhadra police today began interrogation of Naxal zonal commander Munna Vishwakarma and his associate sub zonal commander Ajit Kol,after getting him in police remand for four days.
Munna and Kol,who carried rewards of Rs 3 lakh and Rs 50,000,respectively,were arrested on Thursday. On Friday,the police had filed and application seeking remand of 10 days.
Sonbhadra Superintendent of Police Subhash Chandra Dubey told The Indian Express that Munna and Kol were taken in police custody from district jail at 4 pm today and a team of three senior officers,including an Additional SP (ASP) and deputy SPs,are interrogating them.
He said that they have been interrogating Munna about activities and movement of Naxal groups and role of various organisations who allegedly provide logistic support to the Naxalites.
He also said that Munna had been heading Naxal groups in three states UP,Bihar and Jharkhand for over a decade and he can provide important information about the source of funds and arms and ammunition for these groups.
The police will also question him about links of Naxal groups with the police force,politicians and locals who used to help them,he added.
