The wife of the jailed BSP MLA,Purushottam Naresh Dwivedi,on Thursday claimed that her husband was physically incapable of raping anyone. She demanded a medical examination and DNA tests,saying they would prove the rape charge against her husband was false.

Addressing a press conference at the MLAs residence in Lucknow,Asha Dwivedi said her husband had been suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure for the last 18 years and his left kidney was damaged.

She asked media ersons to visit her house in Banda district and see the spot of of the alleged crime. My house has two rooms. One is occupied by my son and daughter-in-law. The girl was staying in the common gallery. How can a man rape any girl in front of his wife,son and daughter-in-law? asked Asha. He would always sleep in our room, she added.

Asha said the girl was arrested by the police from Turra village in the presence of several people who were witness to the recovery of my husbands cellphone from her.

She said her husband is victim of a political conspiracy hatched by his adversaries. I have full trust on the CM and hope she will do justice to my husband, she added.

She claimed the girl had not made any statement against her husband before a police team from Madhya Pradesh that met her in jail on December 15. The team had visited Banda jail to record her statement in connection with the case that was lodged in Madhya Pradesh after she had gone missing from the house of her grandparents in October.

The MLAs son,Mayank Dwivedi,said his father started facing problems soon after he was appointed party coordinator of Banda Assembly constituency on December 16,but he refused to comment on his fathers rivals within the BSP.

The MLA represents Naraini constituency in the state Assembly. Since Naraini was abolished in the delimitation,he wanted to contest the 2012 Assembly elections from Banda which is represented by Vivek Singh of the Congress.
