Candidates worth crores declare assets

According to the affidavit on assets filed by Naqvi along with his nomination papers,he owns 15 bighas in Allahabad worth Rs 20 lakh,commercial property at a shopping mall in Delhi worth Rs 45 lakh,a flat in Delhi worth Rs 45 lakh,Rs 20,000 in cash,Rs 1.31 lakh in saving bank account and Rs 11.82 lakh in PPF account and jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh.

His wife owns 12 bighas of farmland in Moradabad worth Rs 16 lakh,commercial property at a shopping mall in Delhi worth Rs 35 lakh,a flat in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar worth Rs 45 lakh and a residential property at Allahabad worth Rs 20 lakh. She holds Rs 15,000 cash and Rs 5.5 in her bank account and PPF account worth Rs 11.82 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 3.5 lakh.

The assets of Naseeb Pathan,who has been renominated for the Legislative Council ,also run into crores. These are in his name and his wife Syeda Sultana.

Pathan has Rs 2 lakh in cash,Rs 24 lakh in seven bank accounts in Lucknow,Bijnor and Delhi,fixed deposit of Rs 1 lakh at SBI,Lucknow,one SUV worth Rs 3.5 lakh,jewelery worth Rs 45,000,a revolver worth Rs 1.25 lakh.

His fixed assets include six bighas of agricultural land at Bijnor worth Rs 12 lakh,a plot measuring 1,800 sq ft in Gomti Nagar Lucknow estimated cost Rs 12 lakh,ancestral home in Bijnor worth Rs 25 lakh and a plot measuring 180 sq meter,where his under construction house is worth Rs 50 lakh. The Congress leader holds a PAN card and has paid income tax of Rs 48,880 in 2009-10.

The assets in the name of his wife Syeda Sultana include Rs 13.47 lakh in two bank accounts at Ghaziabad and Lucknow,FD of Rs 2 lakh,200 gram gold worth Rs 3.8 lakh and a DBBL gun worth Rs 15,000.

HN Dikshit,the lone BJP candidate for the Legislative Council poll who returns to the state legislature after 15 years,has declared himself worth Rs 50 lakh in his affidavit. He was last elected to UP assembly in 1993 as Samajwadi Party candidate.

His assets include a house each at Lucknow and Unnao worth Rs 17 lakh,agriculture land at Unnao worth Rs 21 lakh,two guns with estimated worth of Rs 67,000,annual pension of Rs 1.2 lakh on account of being the former legislator,fixed deposit of Rs 1.5 lakh and cash Rs 51,000. He also earns Rs 45,000 as a columnist for several newspapers.

SP alleges anomalies in Maya’s asset declaration
Alleging anomalies in the declaration of assets by Chief Minister Mayawati,the SP asked the Election Commission on Monday to put on hold her nomination papers for the state Legislative Council polls till she provided necessary clarifications. “The declaration has no mention of the source which helped her gain an unprecedented increase in assets without any business,” said SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary. “The value of the movable and immovable property mentioned by her is grossly undervalued and should also be probed.” PTI
