Train obituary reference irks Trinamool

The extended budget session of state Assembly began on Friday with obituary references to victims of the May 28 Jnaneswari Express disaster,even as the Opposition Trinamool Congress took umbrage and accused the government of politicising the mishap. Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim said there there was no politics in mentioning the mishap. “Where is the politics in this? There was only mention of the Jnaneswari Express incident during obituary reference,” he said. Leader of the Opposition Partha Chatterjee claimed that the Left Front government was indulging in politics by referring to the passengers of the Jnaneswari Express killed last month. The House was adjourned after making obituary reference to train mishap victims and eminent persons.
