Sushmita may skip ATF meet

Sushmita Sinha Roy is likely to skip the Asian Track and Field meet to be held in China in November.

Sushmita Sinha Roy is likely to skip the Asian Track and Field (ATF) meet to be held in China in November. The Bengal heptathele is yet to recover fully from her hamstring injury that she suffered before the start of the World Combined meet in Berlin a couple of months back. Although she is recovering steadily,Sushmita is mulling over pulling out of the ATF meet with an eye on the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games next year. The Union Sports Ministry has offered her financial help if she wants to go abroad for treatment. “It will take her another few months to recover fully. We don’t want to rush things as it might jeopardise her career. Commonwealth and Asian Games are more important,” said Sushmita’s coach Kuntal Roy. He added that he is planning to field Sushmita in 200m as well in the Commonwealth Games apart from heptathlon. Incidentally,Sushmita won silver in the last two ATF meets.
