Mangalayatan University ties up with Educomp
Mangalayatan University,a leading private university in UP and Educomp,India’s leading education company announced a strategic collaboration to enhance the practical skills of graduates and prepare them for employment. Educomp Solutions Ltd has entered into a strategic collaboration with Mangalayatan University (MU). Under this collaboration,Educomp and its different subsidiaries,along with it’s associate companies,would provide technology,knowledge and services in areas including practical skill development and assessment,industry domain-oriented training,industry exposure and interaction,language and soft skill development,career guidance and counselling to MU students. Commenting on the occasion,Pawan Jain,chairman of Mangalayatan University said,“It has always been our vision to develop professionals with the requisite skill-set to meet the ever-changing demands of the industry. This collaboration will help us achieve this vision”. Mangalayatan University was rated as the “Best Emerging University of India” and ranked 18th among all Universities in India in a recent evaluation conducted jointly by Ipsos,DNA and Zee News.

Africa Week to mark Mandela’s 92nd birthday
The Africa club of Springdales School,Dhaula Kuan joined the rest of the world in celebrating the 92nd birthday of Nelson Mandela,which is an annual practice at the school. The function was a culmination of the Africa Week events,held on the theme,” South Africa — from Freedom to football “. Welcoming the guests,Jyoti Bose,Principal,Springdales School Dhaula Kuan,said that Mandela has been an inspiration to all of us all through these years and he holds a special place in the heart of all Springdalians. The Guest of Honour,David Nkosi,who is an advocate with the South Africa High Commission said that he was humbled by the efforts of the school to recognize Mandela’s struggle for peace and freedom. He also said that India and South Africa are inseperable.

Bluebells School celebrates Mandela’s birthday
On July 16,2010 Bluebells School International celebrated the birthday of the stalwart of the rainbow nation’s emancipation,Nelson Mandela. For over three decades,the school has been associated with and drawn inspiration from Mandela struggle for a unified Africa. The school’s Africa Club had led a signature campaign back in the eighties to free Mandela from Robben Island. Since then,Mandela’s birthday has been an integral part of the school year.

This time the event showcased a combination of music,dance,theatre and self-composed poetry revolving round the central theme of the freedom struggle and the eventual liberation. The students from the school’s international community sent their good wishes to Mandela in their own language personifying the school’s motto “One Planet,The Earth; One Family,Mankind”. The event was graced by several dignitaries of the international community. The guest of honour,J. J. Olivier,First Secretary of Political Affairs (High Commission of South Africa),said he was touched by the enthusiastic presentations staged in Mandela’s honour. Reiterating the importance of universal brotherhood,he thanked the school for maintaining strong ties of friendship with South Africa. The Bluebells School International concluded the day’s celebration by presenting Olivier posters,poems and greeting cards made by students for Mandela’s ninety-second birthday. In all,it was a memorable experience for all present.

Sonal Mansingh at Indian School’s Malhaar competition
Malhaar,The Indian School’s annual inter-school competition,was privileged to have famed classical dancer and Padma Vibhushan Sonal Mansingh as chief guest,with participation of 18 leading schools of Delhi. The talent in music,dance,art and computer animation from across the Delhi schools was judged by distinguished artists. Overall,The Indian School stood first at Malhaar,2010. However,being the host school,it never competes for the rolling trophy at Malhaar. The best school award was given to the Tagore International School.

Vaibhavi out,but still the audience favourite
A class VII student of K.R. Mangalam,Vaibhavi Mahajan is a talented dancer. She participated in ‘Chak Dhoom Dhoom’ the dance reality show for children and kids between 5-14 on Colors channel. Though eliminated,she still holds the audience’s and the judges’ heart as the most talented dancer.

She has been appreciated for her performance and has even been compared to Karishma Kapoor. Her mother,a classical dancer is her main source of inspiration. The school’s approach of bringing out the inherent talent of the students has also encouraged her. She has participated in various school competitions and programmes. The school is proud of her achievements and wishes her all the best.

Birla Vidya Niketan celebrates France National Day
Birla Vidya Niketan celebrated National Day of France on July 12. At the programme were present Daniel Rignault,Attache de Cooperation Educative,Ambassador de France as the honorable chief guest. The programme was attended by the School Director Col R C Laddha,Principal,S V S Bhandari and Vice Principal,Desmonte Demonte. The programme commenced with the traditional blowing of the conch followed by the lighting of the lamp. A delightful rendition of ‘je dis aimo’ was presented by the school band. The audience were entertained with l’ambe,a form of French Salsa. The highly acclaimed DELF degrees (Foreign Diploma of French language),undertaken by the French Ministry of Education were awarded to 25 students for their exceptional performance. The School Director presented a souvenir as a token of appreciation to the chief guest. The entire programme was conducted in French under the able guidance of the French teacher,Neha Maheshwari. The Vice Principal closed the ceremony with a vote of thanks,which was duly followed by the French and the Indian National Anthem .

Mathematics programme at M L Khanna dAv School
M L Khanna D A V Dwarka organised an orientation programme in Mathematics on June 29,2010 which was attended by 39 teachers from all the DAV schools of Cluster III. The Principal S S Mukhija welcomed the delegates. The programme was divided into two sessions. The first was an interactive session in which common errors in maths,linkage of difficult concepts and fallacies in Maths were discussed by Bimlesh Jha,Principal,DAV Centenary School,Narela. The teachers were involved in the discussion and planning of different activities and projects for classes III to X in the second session.

Venkateshwar International School team in Australia
A delegation constituting the Principal – Mrinalini Kaura,the Vice Principal – Poonam Saxena and a team of fourteen students from Venkateshwar International School (VIS) Sector – 10,Dwarka,New Delhi visited Australia as a part of the Indo-Australian study tour organized by the Government of New South Wales from May 29- June 9,2010. The main aim of this programme was to have a better understanding of each other’s way of life and education system. The delegation visited the Opera House,Harbour Bridge,Bandi Beach,Torongo Zoo,Sydney Aquarium and St Anne’s Church. They also met Ricky Ponting at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

St Mark’s team in exchange programme to US
A cultural and educational exchange program between St Mark’s Sr Secondary Public school,and a high school in Boston,Massachusetts,USA was successfully held. A team of 13 students of SMS,Janakpuri got an opportunity to be a part of this exchange programme from April 20 to May 9, 2010.The goals of the programme were t o encourage students to cross cultural borders to enrich academic experience,to provide real recognition of the value of diversity and solve problems with a multicultural perspective. The students attended classes at the school in Boston and Harvard and Brandeis Universities to learn about American education system. The students also got an opportunity to meet the Mayor of Boston where they got a chance to ask questions on American education,culture,political and economic situation and the further plans of student exchange programmes.

Abhinav Public School celebrates ‘Hariyali maas’
Hariyali mass is celebrated in July to make students aware of the ecological problems and their social responsibilities towards Mother Earth. A number of activities like tree plantation,slogan writing,poem writing,young chef at work were organized. The school donates each child a potted plant and requests them to adopt the plant. Children were also asked to collect posters,pictures and postcard depicting beauty of nature. Children created awareness in their neighborhoods about conservation of water and petrol by distributing pamphlets. Parents also joined in this initiative and undertook a pledge to take care of the environment. The Principal,Saroj Agarwal said “The purpose of this move is to celebrate the campaign with future generation and make each child an ‘Eco Soldier’ who will fight pollution in the future”.
