One of India’s leading auction houses — Saffronart’s penchant for quick auctions has brought forth another interesting 24-hour auction this year. Last year, they came out with the concept of Absolute Auctions — auctions with no reserve prices — which they started with the 24-hour Absolute Auction of Contemporary Art. Up for grabs will be an untitled MF Husain work, dated 1979,which is estimated to be sold between Rs 54 lakh and Rs 81 lakh. Besides, there will be SH Raza’s 2005 work Polarity, which is estimated to go at Rs 4 – 6 lakh, while Jitish Kallat’s 2005 mixed media on paper work titled Stations of Pause is estimated to fetch Rs 1.62 – 2.16 lakh. Other artists whose works will go under the hammer include FN Souza,Akbar Padamsee,Manjit Bawa,Shibu Natesan and TV Santhosh.
