Pretty easy

Spas are mushrooming in the city, especially in glass-enclosed malls, but an impressive clutch of mobile spas is also making it pretty easy for a busy girl to get some pampering done right at her home. Shipra Goyal, working with an MNC in Gurgaon, hardly has time to unwind through the week. “And on weekends,I have to scramble through the household chores. Driving down to a spa hardly seems relaxing, what with the traffic and the heat,” she shrugs. “One of my spa-fanatic friends finally suggested that I try a mobile spa.” So after a trip to Rishikesh, she dialled Tattva Spa to get rid of her light tan. An anti-tan scrub right in her drawing room,

followed by a hydrating body massage a week later,Goyal got luxe treatment without stirring out.

There are five mobile spas in the city and Tattva Spa is the latest to jump on to the bandwagon with their coffee and wine wraps. “The initial response has been extremely encouraging. Our facials, massages and body treatments are customised to the requirements of individuals,” says Anita Kaushal, managing director of five-month-old Tattva Spa. On a 48-hour notice,a five-member team will convert your drawing room or even a small walkway or corridor into a glowing aroma room. “A 48-hour notice gives us time for consultation and for designing the package. The number of clients has increased in the past few months,” says Kaushal, adding that homes at Greater Kailash and Defence Colony are getting their rooms regularly converted to mini spas. Each treatment is priced at Rs 2,000-2,500,and you can choose the therapies that go into your package.

At Spa Transformations, based in Vasant Kunj, the season is busy with destination spa parties. “Recently,we flew down to Goa for our client who was hosting his daughter’s wedding there and our masseurs busied themselves with foot treatments and body masks for the bride’s female friends,” says owner Rasika Bhatia. Currently, her staff is in Kasauli with orange and almond scrubs and strawberry and vitamin C treatment. “Business has gone up by 30 per cent in summer. Sun-burn soother with a cooling aloe vera treatment is popular with women returning from vacations,” says Bhatia, who gets beauty calls from Ansal Villas,Sainik Farm and New Friends Colony.

If you want French clay facial,LSA Home Spa is just a call away. There are options of red, white and green clay that cost Rs 2,400 for an hour. Taxes are applicable if you live in farmhouses,Noida,Gurgaon or north Delhi. Book a day in advance.

At Vanya Home Spa,toddlers need not wait impatiently while the mother is enjoying a relaxing rubdown. It offers olive oil and apricot oil head massages and papaya and cucumber body massages for kids. These are priced between Rs 250 and Rs 545 and take 25 to 45 minutes. “We have a spa kitchen in Noida where we create our own concoctions. Some apricot-based products are sourced from Uttarakhand,” says owner Shilpa Memani. A 70-minute-long oat meal and yellow mustard exfoliation comes for Rs 1,400. “We have a strong women client base and though we have facilities for men,it hasn’t picked up well,” she adds. Give them an eight-hour notice and Vanya will reach anywhere in south Delhi.

Mumbai-based Power Spa makes regular trips to the Capital. “We have some clients in Delhi who take our services for parties and pre-wedding events,” says Pankaj Sharma, whose company specialises in dry therapies that keep the mess to the minimum. While the firm has plans of setting up a mobile spa in Delhi, currently it is happy flying down to prettify the swish set.
