Portion of building collapses in Matunga

A portion of the third and the fourth floors of an under-construction building collapsed in Matunga on Friday. A car parked on the premises was damaged in the incident.

A portion of the Illa Villa building near the Matunga West railway station collapsed around 11.15 am,following which civic officials stopped work at the site.

“The work will resume only after our inspections are completed. We will find out the reasons for the collapse,” a civic official from G North Ward said.

A fire engine and a water tanker were rushed to the spot following the incident.
