Cane sugar, guava, neem and frangipani might conjure up dreams of a rural retreat, but it’s probably what your skin would appreciate more than you this season.

Cane sugar, guava, neem and frangipani might conjure up dreams of a rural retreat, but it’s probably what your skin would appreciate more than you this season. With summer upon us,the city spas are gearing up to roll out treatments that are high on organic and botanical elements. “People have started to move towards more therapeutic treatments, that incorporate herbal & organic elements,” says Ajay Malik, manager,Espace spa at Radisson MBD,Noida. Take a pick from their cane sugar and tamarind treatment or their mint ice body scrub that utilise elements like cane sugar and tamarind, natural extracts of peppermint and spearmint as body scrubs and gels to give the skin a well-exfoliated sheen.

Sugar,in fact, seems to be a favourite exfoliater this season. At the Aura spa at the Park, the summer magic treatment makes sure that you come out with honey-smooth skin post a treatment involving guava and sugar scrub, followed by a mint and papaya wrap. Or,if you are more inclined towards fresh flower, you can choose a rehydrating facial with extracts of flowers like neem, jasmine, rose and frangipani.

“Globally there’s been an enhanced move towards organic and botanical products and treatments, when it comes to spas. Since Indians travel a lot more nowadays, they are more attuned to such trends,” says Alka Katar, manager,R spa at Radisson hotel,Delhi. Apart from the plethora of treatments using hydrating marine mask facials and seasonal fruits like watermelons, one of the most popular treatments at this spa is their jet lag treatment, depending upon the customer’s choice of treatment products, which introduces the customer to a dry floatation therapy in an aqua suite, complete with mood lights, music,a seaweed wrap and other accompaniments.

Ayurvedic wellness treatments are also a staple at the Amatrra spa at The Ashok in Chanakyapuri, but it comes with boosters like multi-vitamin add-ons and marine wraps. At the swanky spa at the Aman on Lodhi Road, whose services are available only to resident guests, the thrust is not just on using organic products, but to ensure that the guests have access to cutting-edge treatments. One of their most popular treatments is the anti-ageing facial with not just natural products, but also a vitamin C serum, that is infused in to the skin. “The facial eliminates the dry, dull skin of the previous months and builds a defense towards future damage that may be caused by sun and pollution, says” Karen Biancardi, spa manager,Aman.

Natural can be beautiful.
