Govt appoints two-member panel to probe Arya Orphanage case

The Delhi government has set up a two-member commission to probe into instances of alleged child sexual abuse at Arya Orphanage,an unrecognised children’s home in Daryaganj.

The Delhi government has set up a two-member commission to probe into instances of alleged child sexual abuse at Arya Orphanage,an unrecognised children’s home in Daryaganj. The panel will present its report within a month.

The commission,comprising retired IAS officers Geeta Sagar and Janak Juneja,has been set up under Section 3 of the Commission of Inquiry Act-1954. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has asked the commission to submit a detailed report with suggestions that would help prevent such incidents in the future.

The panel will also look into the functioning of five children’s homes in Delhi — the Arya Bal Grih (Daryaganj),the Arya Kanya Sadan (Daryaganj),Chhatrawas Chandra Arya Vidya Mandir (East Of Kailash),Chandra Arya Vidyalaya (East Of Kailash) and Arya Anathalaya (Daryaganj).
