Parking issue: Khan Market traders take NDMC to court

NEW DELHI: Businessmen from Khan Market approached the Delhi High Court on Thursday,challenging the New Delhi Municipal Council’s decision to charge money for parking vehicles at the market from next week. Justice S Muralidhar,before whom the petition came up for hearing,posted the matter for Friday and directed the counsel for the civic body to seek instructions from the department on the issue. The Khan Market Traders’ Association has termed the decision “discriminatory” as there are various areas in NDMC zones where free parking is still permitted.

22-year-old commits suicide in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A 22-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at an abandoned shed in Farooknagar. Police said the man,Sandeep,was mentally disturbed. The body was handed over to his family after an autopsy.

Five wear bangles for boarding women’s coach

Gurgaon: The police on Thursday conducted ‘Operation Majnu’ at the Guru Dronacharya Metro station and ‘challaned’ five persons for travelling in the women’s compartment. As punishment,the offenders were made to wear bangles and clean the station. The police has been conducting the drive for the last three days,and as many as 50 offenders have been caught so far.
