NEW DELHI: A city court remanded two doctors of Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital,arrested by the anti-corruption Bureau over bribery allegations,to judicial custody on Tuesday. The doctors in the casualty department of the hospital — VK Jha and Sudesh Kumar — were caught giving Rs 50 lakh to a person who had accused them of taking bribes for conducting post-mortem examinations and hiring ineligible staff.

Lawyers strike,argue with judge

NEW DELHI: A lawyers’ strike at the district court complex in Patiala House on Wednesday led to a heated argument between a sessions judge and members of the lawyers’ association. According to a statement by New Delhi Bar Association,the lawyers had a heated argument with a judge,but the matter was settled amicably. They were protesting against relocation of the court complex to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg.

Gender sensitisation drive for DTC staffers

NEW DELHI: Gender sensitisation training will be imparted to drivers and conductors of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). A proper module has been prepared for the drive based on feedback from women passengers and DTC crew. Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami on Wednesday inaugurated a training programme on gender sensitisation at the DTC Training School in Nand Nagri complex.

Four juveniles held for attack on 74-year-old

NEW DELHI: Four juveniles have been apprehended for trying to kill a 74-year-old businessman in Maurya Enclave area of Northwest Delhi earlier this week,police said on Wednesday. According to police,the juveniles attacked Hari Kishan Gupta when he objected to their creating ruckus in a park. In a fit of rage,the four juveniles picked up wooden sticks and assaulted the elderly man,police said.

49-year-old found dead in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD: A 49-year-old man working at the post office in Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport was on Wednesday found dead in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad. The body of Surrendra Dutt Bharatwal,a superintendent at the post office at IGI Airport,was recovered from a drain,police said. Preliminary investigation suggests he died after falling in the drain,an officer said.
