A 20-year-old man was killed and his two friends injured after the motorcycle they were travelling on rammed into a road divider in Paschim Vihar in West Delhi on Wednesday night.

A 20-year-old man was killed and his two friends injured after the motorcycle they were travelling on rammed into a road divider in Paschim Vihar in West Delhi on Wednesday night. Police said the deceased,Arjun,was driving while his friends Ankit (18) and Rakesh (19),were riding pillion. They were returning to their Raghubir Nagar residence after attending a friend’s party in Madipur. “ All three had consumed alcohol,the quantity of which will be ascertained by a postmortem report. Arjun was reportedly speeding and he lost control while taking a U-turn. The three sustained injuries and were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where Arjun was declared brought dead,while Ankit is in a critical state. Rakesh was discharged after first-aid,” police said.

Soumya case: Police seek 30 days to finish probe
The Delhi Police submitted an application before a Delhi court on Thursday seeking 30 days more to conclude probe against four accused in the Soumya Vishwanathan murder case. Four persons,Ajay Sethi,Baljeet Singh Malik,Amit Shukla and Ajay Kumar,were booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA) on March 10 for the journalist’s murder. Since police were unable to conclude its probe within the statutory period of 90 days,it filed a plea to ensure the accused could not get bail on this ground. Additional Sessions Judge S K Sarvaria took the application into records and has fixed it for hearing. The defence counsel said that they would file bail applications on Friday.

Guragon MC completes wardbandi task
Gurgaon: The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon has completed the wardbandi process,an exercise to demarcate wards in the district,and a detailed report will be soon sent to the state government,Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Rajender Kataria said on Thursday. Kataria said the civic body area constitutes a population of 11.5 lakh for which 35 wards have been demarcated. “Twelve wards would be reserved for women candidates while six wards will be reserved for scheduled caste candidates,including two for scheduled caste women candidates. Two wards will be reserved for candidates belonging to backward classes,” Kataria said.

Two criminals killed in police encounter
Ghaziabad: Two hardcore criminals were shot in an police encounter near Sector-4 of Vaishali in Indirapuram late Wednesday night,police said. One of them has been identified as Aalam,a resident of Nandnagari and the other as Aalmeen,a resident of Bangladesh. Aalam was wanted in a loot case and had a reward of Rs 50,000 on him.

Gurgaon Metro corridor: Safety inspection over
Delhi Metro’s 14.47-km Gurgaon-Qutab Minar corridor is expected to be thrown open by next week as the mandatory inspections by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety have been completed. Earlier,the DMRC had planned to inaugurate the entire stretch of 27 km from Central Secretariat to Gurgaon at one go. Now,the 13-km line connecting Qutab Minar to Central Secretariat is likely to be opened mid-July.

Nigerian held for using fake credit cards to shop
Noida: The Noida police have arrested a Nigerian for allegedly using fake credit cards. The police found him in possession of forged passports as well. According to Ashok Tripathi,Superintendent of Police,Kamoru Sundoy Oyden Ijin shopped at Shoppers’ stop in Great India Place mall on June 8 for goods worth Rs 1.1 lakh. He went to the mall next day. Employees recognised him and alerted the police.

Women arrested for killing husband
Ghaziabad: The police has arrested a woman for allegedly killing her 50-year-old husband. The police said they found the body in Garh Mukhteshwar on June 5. The couple’s son identified the body. Jagwati,the accused,had hatched the plan to murder her husband along with her lover,the police said.
