Man arrested for killing friend over money

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man was arrested on charges of killing his friend in Karawal Nagar, Northeast Delhi,on Wednesday. The accused,identified as Ravi Sharma,had fired at Rajesh (22) in a fit of rage after an argument over payment of money. After killing him,the accused dumped his body in a vacant plot and fled.

HC notice to govt on overcrowding of Tihar

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Centre and the Delhi government on a PIL relating to overcrowding of Tihar Jail,and seeking the formulation of a policy to grant bail to prisoners facing trial for petty offences. The court has sought its response by August 24. There are 2,57,928 undertrial prisoners in India,of which a whopping 67 per cent are lodged in Tihar Jail.

A-G’s opinion sought on Army Medical College

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has sought the Attorney General’s opinion on examining the feasibility of taking over the Army Medical College,run by IP University,in Delhi Cantonment area. The court was hearing a bunch of PILs challenging the medical college’s decision against holding an entrance test for the current academic session and shutting shop for the next two years.
