Burglary at Jairam Rameshs residence
New Delhi: Unidentified men struck at Union Environment Minister Jairam Rameshs bungalow and decamped with some old vessels and scrap items on Thursday night. Police said the incident was reported on Friday from the MPs C-1/9 bungalow on Rajesh Pilot Marg. A case of burglary has been registered at Tughlaq Road police station.
Crackdown on tobacco vendors
New Delhi: Police initiated a crackdown against tobacco vendors close to schools and hospitals on Friday. The drive comes three months after the Delhi High Court directed Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta to strictly enforce the Control of Tobacco Products Act. Raids were also conducted at the North Campus,Shalimar Bagh,Ashok Vihar and Outer Delhi.
Observe Earth Hour,says Dikshit
New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday urged Delhiites to observe the Earth Hour tonight by switching off their electrical appliances. “People are requested to switch off all their electric appliances between 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on Saturday, Dikshit said.
Five swine flu cases reported this month
New Delhi: Five swine flu cases have been reported this month. Delhi government officials confirmed that two cases have emerged from RML Hospital,one from MCDs Hindu Rao Hospital and two from private laboratories. All patients are undergoing treatment.
Katara murder: Court issues notice
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice to Delhi Police on the bail plea of Vikas Yadav,serving life term in the Nitish Katara murder case. The court sought the response from Delhi Police on the application of Vikas who is seeking interim bail for a period of three months to attend the marriage of his younger brother Kunal. The court has posted the matter for further hearing on April 7.
