Two arrested for killing man
The Ghaziabad police on Wednesday arrested two persons for the killing their friend Pratap Sisodia in Ghaziabads Kavi Nagar area last week. The police said Sisodia was murdered on December 5 after a brief altercation with his friends Rahul and Kuldeep after he allegedly refused to lend them his new motorcycle. The duo had also planned to rob the victim,however,they were unsuccessful as Sisodia succumbed to his injuries, a police officer said.
The duo allegedly stabbed the victim 18 times after which Sisodia collapsed. A senior police officer said Rahul and Kuldeep were arrested from near the Hapur chungi area. The police also claimed to have recovered the murder weapon,a knife,from the possession of the accused. Kuldeeps shoe was found at the crime spot which led to the duos arrest, the officer said.
One dies of swine flu
One swine flu death was reported from the Capital on Wednesday. Of the 277 fresh cases reported countrywide on Wednesday,the Capital topped the list with 116 cases.
Appoint more public prosecutors: High Court
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday urged the city government to appoint more public prosecutors to speed up disposal of pending cases. The court also favoured the digitisation of court records to avoid delay on account of unavailability of records. The observations were made during the hearing of a PIL on the plight of undertrials in Tihar jail.
High Court seeks Centre response on runway
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from the Centre on the clearance granted by it to DIAL for constructing a runway at IGIA after a petition filed by a nearby hospital,Indian Spinal Injuries Hospital,alleged that the noise created by flight landing disturbs the patients. The court directed the Ministry of Civil Aviation,the Central Pollution Control Board and the Director General of Civil Aviation to file their submissions.
Four robbers arrested
Four men,including a proclaimed offender,were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in burglary cases and looted articles worth around Rs 15 lakh were recovered. The police identified the accused as Santosh Ram (25),Santosh (32),Radhe Shayam (20) and Rahul Amin (28). On November 29,the gang had allegedly looted cash and jewellery worth around Rs 15 lakh from the residence of a businessman in Najafgarh. Three gang members were arrested from Dwarka Sector-9 Metro station yesterday and Amin,a proclaimed offender,was arrested from Sector-1,Dwarka.
