1500 jhuggis gutted

Around 1500 jhuggis were gutted in a fire that broke out in a slum in Shahbad Dairy area in Northwest Delhi on Monday. Around 20 fire tenders were rushed to the spot after the fire started around 2.55 pm,fire officers said. It took about two and half hours to bring the blaze under control. The police said a short-circuit in the overhead electric cables caused the fire. No casualties have been reported. Some people were taken to hospital with minor injuries and were discharged after first aid.
