Home Minister said the govt had decided not to transfer police officers involved in important investigations.

State Home Minister K J George has warned of stringent action against cops who indulge in corruption,in the wake of the arrest of an inspector and a constable attached to the Ulsoor Gate police station by the Karnataka Lokayukta for accepting a bribe from the owner of a recreation club Monday evening.

George was speaking at the inauguration of Spandana,a special initiative of the city police,at the Basavanagudi police station. He urged people to lodge complaints against cops seeking bribes with their superiors or at the offices of the chief minister or the home minister.

If senior police officers do not initiate action against the corrupt,he said, the matter should be reported to the offices of the chief minister or the home minister.

George claimed politicians do not seek money from police officers and accused cops of using names of politicians.

The Home Minister said the government had decided not to transfer police officers involved in important investigations. “We will call a meeting of senior police officers and this policy will be implemented soon,” he said.

The Spandana building at the Basavanagudi police station has helplines for women and senior citizens, community policing initiatives and a traffic automation centre for the convenience of people living in the southern part of Bangalore.
