Israeli cinema,on most days,is as real as it gets,with extracting stories from real lives,real situations and circumstances; and has earned the respect and critical acclaim of its peers,audience and contemporaries. Chandigarh Film Society,in association with Chandigarh Tourism,and the Israeli Embassy of India is organising an Israeli Film Festival from August 1 to 7,2013 (except on August 4) at the Government Museum Auditorium,Sector 10. Every evening a slice of Israel will come to life on screen and six films will be shown as part of the festival. There will be the story of a woman who leads a double life as a wife,mother and lover and whose life is shattered when her lover dies tragically in Avanim. Another story is that of the conflict between a husband and wife on the brink of a divorce and fighting tradition,love and fear of future in To Take a Wife. The festival will also feature the haunting tale from the desert of forbidden love affairs,loyalty and betrayal and the tussle between east and the west in Yellow Asphalt,the story of a young widow caught in youth movement with her teenaged daughters in Campfire,the story of love,loss,longing and terror in There Were Nights and the psychological thriller Time of Favor. The festival has handpicked some of the best works from few of the finest filmmakers.
