The Current Connection

“What happens when you have a hero who is called ‘Current’ and his leading lady called ‘Bijli’ in a state that is suffering from power cuts? Well,that is the film’s premise,” says Jaspal. The film has him and Jaswinder Bhalla as the village jesters at the receiving end of the power cut. Along with them is Prem Chopra as the Power Minister and Rajesh Puri as the power coporationg CMD. “There are undercurrents of how power is misused — by politicians,people and by the electricity board,” says Jaspal who,interestingly,has worked for ten years with Punjab State Electricity Board as an executive Engineer and knows the department inside out.

The film also sees actress Yami Gautam’s sister,Surilie,making a debut along with Zafar Khan,a Mad Arts school product. “We are cashing in on the Khan surname,” laughs Savita Bhatti,CEO,Mad Arts,who,along with the film’s team,carried lanterns to the press conference held at Golf Club in Sector 6. “An electrifying love story” is how Jasraj describes the film. Apart from acting,Bhatti junior is also the associate director for the film and has lent a hand to editing,marketing,designing and promotion of the film. With music given by Gurmeet Singh,it’s also the the film’s boliyan that we will be tuning into.
