Normally one expects fast bowlers to pick up wickets and win matches for a team but it was not so in Guru Nanak Public School and Chandigarh Cricket Academy’s case as their spin trio of Shubham Chand,Arpit Singh and Charanjit Singh scalped nine wickets among them to handle Mohali Cricket Association a crushing eight-wicket defeat in the Under-14 CC Cup held at GNPS School,Sector 36,on Sunday.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss,MCA were all out for 108 in 35.2 overs. None of their batsmen stayed long at the crease,and with no fruitful partnership between any players,the team skittled out for a paltry total. Only Amritpal and Jasinder showed some resistance and made scores of 27 and 22 runs,respectively.

Chasing the modest total,GNPS & CCA got to a rollicking start as the opening duo of Shivam Bhambri and Arjit Singh put on 66 runs for the first wicket to help the team achieve the total in 23.4 overs. Shivam made 45 runs,while Arjit remained unbeaten on 41. Harman picked up both the wickets that fell for 17 runs.

Vikram bats MCM Blue Caps to win
Meanwhile,in another match played at BTS Academy,Sector 48,MCM Blue Caps recorded 28 run win over BTS Cricket Academy. Batting first,MCA Blue Caps made 189 in 39.3 overs. Vikram top scored with 75 runs. In reply,BTS CA could muster only 161 in 38.3 overs. Parvesh Sharma emerged as the top scorer with 36 runs.
