It pays to be on reality shows, says actor Sambhavna Seth

The daunting tasks and the stiff competition that actor Sambhavna Seth tackles on the sets of Imagine’s Desi Girls helps her prepare for the frenetic life of Mumbai. In fact, milking cows and cooking food has not been that difficult, says Seth,as she takes a breather between shooting schedules for the reality show.

“Desi Girls has been one of the most interesting experiences of my life. Life on the sets has been a learning curve and also brought me closer to my Punjabi roots,” says Seth,an item girl who features quite regularly on reality shows. “I love reality shows. They are exhausting, mentally and physically, and leaves me quite drained but at the end of the day it is good money coupled with great exposure and exciting work. Tell me,where else would I get a chance to live a village life,” she asks.

The challenges also help her prepare for her life in Mumbai. “How do you survive in a competitive and expensive city like Mumbai? What do you do when you are trying to make an honest living? Everybody needs money, and I have a colourful personality, the sort reality shows are looking for,” she says. Seth has already signed up for another reality show — not Fear Factor, because she is afraid of cockroaches — though she is not willing to divulge further details.

Seth has performed well so far, managing to win most of the tasks. From making chapattis and cow dung cakes, catching hens, milking cows and winning a tug-of-war,Seth has been busy. But what has generated more chatter and garnered more eyeballs is her on-show clash with Kashmera Shah. Seth denies that she has ever initiated a clash. “Not me. It has always been Kashmera, instigating me from day one. It’s good for the television ratings, she says, but I want to stay out of controversy,” says Seth. “The stress on such shows is killing and though I look like a strong individual,I get emotionally distraught very easily,” she signs off.
