TO FIND out the reasons for delay in paying dues by the Pearl Agrotech Corporation Limited (PACL), the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has formed a ‘justice’ committee. The committee includes officials of GMADA and will submit its report till the end of this month. The committee will tell PACL about its pending dues that have to be paid.
PACL was to develop residential sites in Sector 96, Mohali. The committee was formed after the GMADA served a notice on the company last month. GMADA officials said that since they did not get any satisfactory reply from the PACL, they had started the process of cancellation of the company licence. The GMADA will also forfeit Rs 2.5 crore bank guarantee of the company.

Speaking to Chandigarh Newsline, the District Town Planner (DTP), Meetinder Singh Mann, said that the committee would coordinate with the company and tell its representatives about its pending dues. The committee would submit its report till the end of this month.
“The process of cancellation of the licence has started. Now the committee will also submit its report. After this, we will ask the company to first clear its dues and then take further action, though the licence is not cancelled yet,” added the DTP.
The committee will also make an estimate of the money which people have invested in the company to get the houses. Some of the investors have also lodged a police complaint against some officials of the company alleging that they were selling the construction material of the company.
GMADA issued the notice to the company last month and asked it to submit its report within 15 days regarding the development work which is stopped at the company’s Sector 96 site.
