Mohali cops arrest five thieves

The SAS Nagar police claimed to have arrested five thieves and snatchers who had been active in the city for the past few months.

The SAS Nagar police claimed to have arrested five thieves and snatchers who had been active in the city for the past few months. The police have recovered stolen gold jewellery worth over Rs 7 lakh and other costly items from the accused.

The accused were arrested by the CIA staff of the S A S Nagar Police. With their arrest,the police claim to have solved several cases of thefts and snatching.

Police arrested Phase 7 resident Sahil Kaushal in a case registered at Kharar (Sadar) police station on Tuesday. The police recovered a stolen motorcycle,five mobile phones,a gold chain and other household material. With his arrest,police claimed to have solved three cases.

The first case was registered at Phase 8 police station where the accused had snatched a mobile phone and household goods from Sector 68 resident Bimla.

The accused also snatched a gold chain from Shavinder Singh Bedi,a Sunny enclave resident,on March 18. Sahil had also stolen a motorcycle belonging to Dhanas resident Kashmir Singh Gill.

Another accused,Khunia alias Sonu,a resident of Uttar Pradesh,was arrested for stealing gold jewellery belonging to Shah Tanveer Aziz,a Sector 68 resident in December last year. Lokender Kumar,Jasvir Singh and Raj Kumar,all residents of Uttar Pradesh,were arrested in a case of theft registered at the Phase 8 police station on March 13.
