Khayali slips into his ‘jatt’ avataar for his first Haryanvi film

I am the item boy of laughter,” Khayali crawls in and out of swings at the Press Club, making sure the shutterbugs capture his best shot. In town for a prelude of sorts to his first Haryanvi film,Khayali quickly clears the air by saying he’s not into regional cinema. “Frankly,I don’t want to be a part of regional cinema because there’s no big budget, concept, marketing or distribution,” he,however, took up Ved Prakash’s Ruk Ke Padge because it’s the first ‘decent’ film that’s coming from Haryanvi cinema after Chandrawal. “It’s a comedy, something like Bawarchi,” Khayali’s playing a witty hazar-jawab servant in the film. “I’ve done solo acts, then in a jodi with Karishma Tanna, now we’re doing comedy with children and boy it’s a mahabharat with them! They reprimand you if you forget or tweak the lines! But anyways, the point is that I’ve always looked forward to something new…I like to experiment,so this film’s also one,” Khayali says it was his typical jatt accent that landed him the role and a place in the comedy circle. In fact,he’s flooded with TV offers because ‘people think he’s lucky for their show.’ “Also, that I look good in all those funny item numbers,” he rolls through Bhootni Ke which catapulted him to filmi success. This Friday,he’s looking forward to two item songs in the film,Meri Padosan. “Then there are two untitled films with Govinda and Sunny Deol,” seems like the man’s quite packed!

Meanwhile, the film’s director Ved Prakash and villain,Sikandar Saroha joined in. Prakash is on the lookout for lead romantic pair for which auditions will be held on April 16 at Hotel KLG,Sector 43,Chandigarh from 10am to 6pm. All you need is looks and Haryanvi accent! “My film’s issue based, but I’ve dealt in a comic manner, and the title means Halla mach gaya. It’s total hungama,” says Prakash who’s planning a Rs 20 crore Hindi film after this. Hmmm.
