GGDSD remains top choice, MCM DAV close second

Students in the non-UT pool faced a tough time as many with a score below 95% in class XII had to return disappointed.

BCom admissions in nine city colleges for the general category students of the Non-UT pool closed at rank 483 and a score of 107.2 on the first day of the centralised counselling at Panjab University.

As many as 215 seats were filled up of the 243 seats for the non-UT pool. Only 28 seats remain vacant in two girls colleges, namely Dev Samaj College for Women in Sector 45 and Guru Gobind Singh College for Women (GGSCW) in Sector 26. Counselling for the vacant seats will be conducted on July 7.

Students in the non-UT pool faced a tough time as many with a score below 95% in class XII had to return disappointed. Students till rank 500, of the total 3771 applicants in the non-UT pool, were called for counselling on Thursday. Divyansh Bansal from Meerut, who ranked 397 and scored 92 % in class XII, said, “I could not get admission in the college I wanted, so its better to go back to my own city.”

The highest cut-off was recorded for GGDSD College in Sector 32 at 111.2. The college is the most sought after and was the first one to fill all seats. All 36 seats in the general category were filled till rank 100. The cut-off this year has gone up considerably from last year when it was 107.5.

Following close was MCM DAV College in Sector 36 where the cut-off was 110.2. Admissions closed at rank 197. DAV College in Sector 10 closed admissions at 109.6 with 247 being the last rank to get a seat. Post-Graduate Government College for Girls in Sector 11 granted admissions for students with a score of 109.8, the last rank being 230.

Students in the SC/ST, physically handicapped categories, riot / terrorist victims or grand children of a freedom fighter from the non-UT pool also attended the counselling.

The counselling was also conducted for students till rank 1-150 in the UT pool, which continued till late on Thursday evening. A total of 111 seats were filled, with GGDSD College emerging as the top choice.

Students are advised to check the schedule which is available on the website http://bcomadmissions.puchd.ac.in. The counselling for BCom seats at PU Department of Evening Studies will be conducted separately.
