Spa Splendour
“The fast pace of life, stress, physical and social pressures are driving people back to nature and holistic health treatments. So,health resorts and spas are the new getaways,’’ observed Marie Andren, who was here on the invitation of the ITFT Education Group to explore the potential of setting up spa resorts. According to Marie, the Nordic Academy in Sweden, specializes in various facets of spa culture and with its expertise and inputs, she proposes to set up an Indo-Swedish Venture,The Spirit of Seven. “This will provide a variety of rejuvenation therapies,’’ Marie’s Indian collaborators are BK Goswami,Raju Bharat and Ravinder Raj,who have been associated with the tourism and hospitality industry for long. “We aim to heal the body, mind and soul. Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, naturopathy would be integrated with modern methods of healing and wellness at this spa,’’ Marie feels that Chandigarh on account of its unique geographical location and infrastructural facilities has great potential for such ventures.

A unique platform
It was a touching moment,as children from slum schools run under the aegis of the Durga Das Foundation interacted with the Governor,General Rodrigues and his Jean and enjoyed a sumptuous brunch together. Over 200 children of the economically weaker section that is part of the inclusive education programme at Strawberry Fields were part of this function and received school uniforms too. “Today, you can dream the impossible and back it with hard work to reach wherever you want to. We hope we can be the facilitators in that unique journey, holding your hand and guiding you all through,” smiles Atul Khanna, director of the school.

Catalysts of Change
AIESEC hosts ‘Leading the Change’,an event to promote AIESEC and talk about the platform it provides to the young people to explore and develop their leadership potential at Fun Republic. With videos shown to incorporate better understanding, they also invited international trainees on the occasion. “With recruitments for AIESEC starting in August,we will go to SD College,DAV College and MCM College for selection in the coming week. All the applicants would be required to go through group discussions, team activities and personal interviews to get selected,” Akriti,a member, tells us the Annual AIESEC Event ‘Empower’ will be held on August 9 at St Stephens School.
