If you’re yearning to hear real music filled with rich prose and poetry,then here’s chance to be part of the fifth annual “Yaadon Ki Kasak” programme which is being held in the honour of senior citizens by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi in Randhawa Auditorium,Panjab Kala Bhawan,Sector 16,on January 18 at 6:30 pm. Tune into nostalgic songs of yesteryears rendered by contemporaries of KL Saigal,Pankaj Mullick,Talat Mahmood,C.H Atma,Noorjahan,Suraiya,Shamshad Begum et al. Singers will also take you down memory lane with the best of Late Mohammad Rafi,Mukesh,Kishore Kumar and Dada Sahib Phalke Award winner Manna Dey,Asha Bhosle,Lata Mangeshkar and others. Organised especially for those who have special liking for old songs of bygone era,such programmes are encourage appreciation of old melodies sung by all time great singers,composed by great music directors and poetry by great legends of that era.

Winter warmth
To bring some warmth into the life of the underprivileged,the Durga Das Foundation,as part of its charity and compassion-building drive mobilised shoes and woollen cardigans for over 100 children,who are part of their day care and crèches in the slums of Chandigarh. The children,in the age group of one to six,were the guests of honour,as Jean Rodrigues presented them with bags of love and warmth. Besides crèches,the Foundation runs night schools for over 200 lesser privileged children in Bapu Dham,Indira Colony,Palsora and Hallomajra. “We are so happy to see that people are not just stepping forward to give things of value,but coming back within months,asking us as to what is the object of immediate need,’’ said Atul Khanna,Director of the Foundation.
