Remember those best out of waste workshops that were (and still are) a part of co-curricular activities in schools and colleges? Giving that concept a fashionable twist and taking it forward,Hidesign, the leather brand recognised for its eco-friendly initiatives, has a unique project going called Art of Reuse. The annual campaign not only encourages recycling, but also aims to increase the appreciation of handcrafted products. The initiative, into its second edition, rolled out in the form of a contest, where participants were encouraged to create innovative designs out of leather scrap provided in a kit by Hidesign. The kit was made available at all Hidesign stores across India and the winners were selected after a round of voting on the brands Facebook page. Out of the top 10 designs, three winners were selected by brand owner Dilip Kapur and his design team. Roshni Kamath emerged as the winner. She won everyone over with her creative edge. Her well-thought out multiple accessories a leather purse with handmade artwork, leather earrings and fringe necklace and attention to detail got her the first spot. Skillful use of leather scraps to make an elegant clutch and coin purse gave Sweeny Dias the second place while Samidha Gunjal’s cute design for a bag,got her the third spot. All of them took home gift vouchers from the brand. Cheers to eco chic.
