Sutradhaar is one of their creative endeavours,a class that combines theatre and fitness,with Chakresh Kumar of the Department of Indian Theatre,Panjab University and Harleen Virk working on voice modulation,acting,breathing techniques and exercises for lateral thinking. They are going to work on theatre movements for grace and stability, says Priya of Planet Fitness.
Most experts feel that dance as a therapeutic and fitness aid is both popular and effective. Fitness and Yoga Studio has been blending dance and aerobics to create a high intensity workout that is also fun. It is essentially aerobics with Bollywood dance steps. You can burn up to 500 to 600 calories in one session, says Anil Juneja,who has introduced yoga for children to improve their concentration,physical growth and energy. At Ozone,bhangra aerobics has proved to be a phenomenal success. The music is peppy,the moves fast and you sweat out in style, says Vikram Kapoor,its general manager.
Grace and bonding is the essence of the mother-daughter ballet classes conceived by PAUSE. Ellen,who has come from the United States,makes an effort to help mothers and children connect while dancing together. We are not attempting to groom ballerinas,but impart the value of being together and involved in a physical activity, says Sanjeev from the institute. Emma,a choreographer from London,is set to join them to initiate children into random creative moves and encourage them to choreograph sequences themselves.
