Chandigarh: The masterplan committee has suggested that there is a need for more hostels in the UT. Due to the presence of a large number of educational institutes in the city,students from various states come here to study. However,hostel facilities are not sufficient to cater to the students. The recent crackdown on paying guest accommodation has highlighted the need for residential facilities for students. For this the committee has proposed that hostels should be constructed. The aim would be to provide affordable accommodation to the students.

Mobike-borne youths snatch womans chain

Panchkula: A snatching incident took place in Sector 21 at 4 pm on Monday. Shanti Devi was returning home after paying obeisance at the local Shiv temple when two motorcycle-borne youths snatched her gold chain. She said that she raised her voice to stop them,after which children playing nearby tried to to do so. But the snatchers were carrying stones,which they pelted at them and fled. She told the police that one of the snatchers was wearing a black checkered shirt . A case has been registered at the Sector 21 police post.
