Save a seat for ‘Cine Manthan 2013’,a first of its kind cross-genre film festival at Panjab University

As many as 38 rare,historical,celebrated and award-winning films will unspool at “Cine Manthan 2013”,a first of its kind film festival at the Panjab University,Chandigarh. To be held from October 3 to 5,it has been being organised in collaboration with the Films Division of India (FDI) at the Main Auditorium in PU campus. The fest will also initiate the “fdZone@PU” (Film Division Zone) in Chandigarh,a curated-interactive film screening space for showcasing independent films,holding lectures and discussions,and organising workshops. Not only this,“Cine Manthan 2013” will celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema by exhibiting posters curated by experts at FDI at the Museum of Fine Arts,PU.

The festival will also have a historical film on Chandigarh and news reels of the post-Independent era.The film festival will feature some of the most moving images from the world of cinema. Short films,animated movies,documentaries and fictional features — such as Ship of Theseus,Little Terrorist,Zoo,Riding Solo to the Top of the World,Nero’s Guests,Muto,and Mirch Masala,among others — will all comprise the line-up.

“Archive and Documentation” is the theme of the movie extravaganza. “Cine Manthan 2013” would be divided into five slots each day in coherence with the overall theme of the festival. Each day will also feature keynote speakers elaborating upon the thematic aspect of the festival,followed by an interactive session with the audience. While its vibrant poster has been designed by cultural and film studies PhD student Navita Negi,this three-day festival which is “of the students,by the students and for the students”,will be held from 9 am to 8.30 pm,at the Law Auditorium,PU.
